Designing what-ifs into “what’s next?”
Every business has a story—a spark that ignited the journey. I delve into that origin story, using it as the core of a brand's strategy, creating an identity that resonates and grows. Specializing in empowering small businesses, whether fresh to the market or well-established, I help tackle their unique goals with a tailored, versatile approach. With a commitment to authentic, impactful work, I strive to become a trusted partner in driving brand growth and creating a lasting legacy.
My name is Jackie Espejo, I'm an SF Bay Area based graphic and brand designer dedicated to empowering entrepreneurs and business owners to unleash the true potential of their products and services. With a mission to collaborate closely with undiscovered brands, I strive to create impactful visual identities that authentically reflect their goals and objectives. Driven by a vision pathways paved for ambitious starters, go-getters, and relentless overachievers, I am committed to supporting individuals as they pursue their careers through excellence, authenticity, substance, curiosity and discipline.
On a summer night in '93, I was born as the youngest of five siblings and a first generation descendant of immigrant parents both rooted from the Ilocos region in northern Philippines. I was a shy and observant toddler, always curious about what my siblings and cousins were interested in - music, video games, sports, pro wrestling and streetwear. When I was a little old enough to try some cool things out myself, I found myself in activities where I had the ability to customize, design or personalize whether it was a game character and their costumes, avatars, skate park layouts (shout out to THPS fans), etc. When I was about 5 years old, I learned how to use my father’s computer and began playing with the classic Microsoft Paint and eventually wandered into the world wide web.
Growing up in beautiful East Side San Jose, I was inspired by the Asian and Latino cultures that surrounded me, creating a unique childhood experience that still influences me today. I loved to walk, take the bus or ride my bike around just appreciating Chicano art murals and breathing in the aroma of asada on the grill as I passed by. As I got older and my parents separated, my creativity soon expanded into writing, drawing, photography, video and music. These activities soon became an escape from reality and I was curious at how creative I could get and utilized every opportunity to do so in school projects.
It really wasn't until senior year of high school that I realized that design was a career choice. What sparked this moment was when I entered the AVID Club t-shirt design contest and won unanimously. Seeing a large population of students walking around campus with my design was a surreal feeling and I felt super proud of myself. Right after graduation, I enrolled at the Art Institute of California in Silicon Valley and later earned my Associate and Bachelor of Science degrees in Graphic Design.
I am currently freelancing and accepting remote design work in branding and marketing. With over 10 years of experience in print production, digital advertising and product branding, I've had the pleasure to design for global brands in action sports, music,  entertainment, cannabis, food and personal care. Throughout my career, the foundation of graphic design allowed me to explore new ways to express myself through photography, video production, motion graphics and 3D visuals. When working on projects or with clients, I value substance, authenticity and true grit. My versatile skillset is a result of embracing my imagination and always being curious of different ways I can create magic.
